Author From a Blurb

This category is the book you picked that was written by author you haven't read before but who blurbed a book you enjoyed.
Be sure to include the title of the book where the blurb came from.
If you have a blog, you can add the perma-link to the Mr. Linky below. If you don't have a blog, you can write your thoughts on the book in the comments section of this post.

Jen, I am so confused...you have TWO blogs? I cannot even locate the one that I have!
I have never read Tony Hillerman before, and I knew absolutely nothing about him. He blurbed Indigo Slam, by Robert Crais, so I decided to give him a try. I looked around and saw some good reviews for People of Darkness, so that was the book I read for this part of the challenge. It wasn't my favorite book, but I did get through it pretty fast trying to figure out what was going to happen. I may read more Hillerman in the future, but for now - on to my next book for the challenge!
I think this is going to be the most difficult part of the challenge. I gotta start paying more attention to blurbs!
I read THE FIRST BILLION by Christopher Reich. He blurbed THEY'RE WATCHING by Gregg Hurwitz.
I have chosen an author, Robert Crais, but not yet a title. Just got home from the library where I carried a print-out of my favorite reads of 2009, thinking more of them would be on the shelf than last year's favorites. Found that Crais blurbed both THE SHANGHAI MOON by S.J. Rozan and DEAD EX by Harley Jane Kozak. When I get back from Left Coast Crime (can't wait!) I'll decide which of his books to read.
Lois-I recommend starting with THE MONKEY'S RAINCOAT. If you don't want to read in order, then read L.A. REQUIEM.
Lois, as Judy mentioned, L.A. REQUIEM is actually the book Robert Crais recommends his readers start with.
I just finished LEARNING TO SWIM by Sara J Henry, mainly because it was blurbed by two writers I love, Reed Farrel Coleman and Daniel Woodrell, and if they recommend it, that's a good reason for me. I liked the book very much, was well done, suspenseful, smooth writing, great characterization, very interesting plot, and settings done very well too. Glad I read it!
Craig Johnson wrote a blurb for the cover of Robert Kresge's debut novel, Murder for Greenhorns, which I enjoyed. Both authors set their mysteries in Wyoming. Rob Kresge's book is set in the 1870s. He has written 2 more in his Warbonnet series, not published yet.
I put Tess in the wrong category. She's my new series book.
Finished L.A. REQUIEM yesterday and oh, my, what a good book!
I read The Surgeon by Terr Gerritson, whose blurbs have appeared on multiple books that I've read and enjoyed. It seems like she's everywhere these days!
I erred in what to put here, in my first post, so here's one, done the correct way, finally! An author I had not tried before, who blurbed a book by Michael Limon, whom I love, but this author was new to me and I tried him: John Burdett. I loved his first one, Bankgok 8, and his next one is on my tbr shelf! Did I get it done right this time, Jen? Cheers, Bobbie
